Google Analytics

Google Analytics enables you to gain invaluable visitor data, so if you don't have this set up on your website we would highly recommend it. Google Analytics can give you great insights about traffic, your visitors and their behavior. Simply put, it shows you where visitors to your site come from – be it via an organic link, a pay-per-click advert, digital collateral such as links in PDF documents or via your email marketing campaign. So, how do you set up your Google Analytics account to show your email newsletter as a referrer?

If you don’t have a Google Analytics account you can set one up via your Googlemail account. Then copy the tracking code that Google Analytics generates for you and paste it between the header and body tags of your website pages. Then simply enable Google Analytics in your GraphicMail account. After you send your next newsletter from within your GraphicMail account the tracking is automatically turned on if the link in your newsletter sends readers to a page on your site. Google identifies that newsletter as the referal source, and specifies which specific link in this referrer source (i.e. My Newsletter) was clicked.
