Get Subscribers through Facebook!

by Wikus Engelbrecht - GraphicMail Marketing Team 10. September 2009 21:20

What's the point in having a great email newsletter and nobody to send it to? That's just like being all dressed up for a party and have nowhere to go. So why not take your email newsletter campaign to where the best parties are going down, on Facebook? All you need is your own Facebook Fan page and the GraphicMail subscription form code.

Facebook has changed the way this is done, for an update click here.

STEP 1 – Make sure your subscription from is properly customized.

Once you’ve customized it and are happy then go to the Embed Form menu and copy the non-javascript code into NotePad or a TextEdit.

STEP 2 – Creating the Facebook Subscription page
Facebook recently announced that they would be discontinuing their support of the Static FBML (Facebook Markup Language) app in favor of iframes. From a marketing point of view, this is actually great news as FBML was restrictive about what was allowed within Facebook.

Here is a video with step-by-step instructions on how to set up a Facebook custom iFrame landing page application.

STEP 3 – Adding the Subscription Tab to your Facebook Navigation
On the Applications Profile, Click on "Add to My Page". Select the page you want to add the custom iframe tab. Go into edit page > Manage Permissions to change this to the default landing page.

STEP 4 – Try it out.
Go to your Facebook Fan Page and do a test subscription to make sure it’s all working.
