Mad Hatters Tea Party
Sat 5 July
To offically open our tea room we have decided to hold a Mad Hatters Tea Party.  You may not be aware that Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, otherwise known as Lewis Carroll was born not far from here as his father was the vicar of Daresbury Church.  His father also had links with the canal  as Lord Egerton of Tatton paid for a narrow boat so that Lewis Carroll's father could preach to those living on the canal.  The 4th of July is a significant date as it is the date in 1862 when Lewis Carroll first told the story of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland which later evolved into the book.  During the day we will be holding a Mad Hatter's tea party with characters from the book.  There will be a themed fancy dress competition and at 3pm there will be a reading from the book by a very special person.  More details to come, so watch this space....

 Victorian Christmas at Davenports
Sun 16 - 24 December
We will again be doning the Victorian costumes and sampling the mince pies and mulling wine, with a little Christmas music.  If you lucky we might leave you some! Why not join us, you will be very welcome.

 Tea Room Opening

We aim to open our tea room by the end of November.  The theme will be a quaint old English tea room,
where tea can be taken in a bone china cup and saucer although we will also offer mugs for those of you who prefer something a little less dainty.  We are pleased that Joanne Pace will be supplying her delicious home-made cakes and will be working in the tea rooms one day a week.  We are also pleased to welcome Barbara Finch who will be joining us to run the tea rooms. In addition and to compliment Joanne's cakes we are also pleased to introduce you to Katja's Kupcakes, which are truely wonderful to see and to eat!  Click on the link above for a sneak preview.  For a special occasion or just some real indulgence, they are definately worth the wait.
96 People Attend Our 60th Year of Trading Charity Event

We held the event in one of our greenhouses and ninety-six people attended and it was a great evening.  Corks Out provided a bar and my brother and sister-in-law did the pork roast which I think everyone appreciated
Feedback is Important
We appreciate anything you tell us...If we are getting it right or wrong, or in between, it's good to know as it helps us improve.

   Newsletter
Sorry it's been a while since we sent out our last newsletter, but we've had a busy time with Christmas, then preparations for Valentines, then Mother's Day weekend shortly after that and suddenly it's March and already Easter.  We've had a great start to the year, especially with the tea room.  On three separate occasions we've counted 50 people who have had our speciality teas and coffees, not to mention the delicious cakes that Jo and Katja produce.  We are constantly praised for the quality and taste of these cakes and we do pass your comments on.  We all appreciate it - it's the good comments that makes everything worthwhile

Following on from last year's newsletter, in case you aren't aware, we did win Best Rural Retail for North Wales and Cheshire in The Countryside Alliance's national competition.  We are absolutely thrilled with this result, particularly in view of the strong competition, so thank you to all of you who have voted and supported us.  We couldn't have done it without you

And what's happening now.....
We have got a family walking quiz running at the moment.  After careful consideration we decided that due to the cold and horrible Easter weather that we would operate the quiz over the week during the school holidays, so that hopefully there may be a spell which was dry enough to have a go.  There is an easy access route, (suitable for prams, wheelchairs and bicycles) from our farm shop to the River Weaver and along the Weaver Valley with 30 questions in all and if you are able to, there is an extended route  (questions 31-40)  though you will probably need wellingtons and this route unfortunately is not suitable for push chairs or wheelchairs, however this is a circular route, so it is quite interesting.  The cost of submitting your entry is £1 and there is a prize for those who enter, just for participating.  Correct entries will be put in a draw for a basket of chocolate worth £40, so go on have a go

Hope to see you soon
Best wishes
